Let Our Luminaries Assist You With Your Tax Return

Update 4/6 — Thank you for your interest in booking an appointment with our Luminaries to take care of your 2022 tax return. Though we are looking forward to serving you with all of your income tax needs, we will only be accepting new clients who will be going on extension, and we will be happy to meet with you when we begin filing tax returns again in late-May.

For Clients of Record: If you’re an existing client of our firm, please contact Jovanna at jovanna@luminarytaxadvisors.com or 352-787-9451, and she’ll be able to get the process started for you. We will follow up with status updates for our existing clients as the remainder of the season winds down. Tax returns that come in at this point will end up on extension, but it’s important to get us the information as soon as possible so we can prepare for your extension and, if necessary, make a payment with said extension to avoid future IRS penalties and interest.

For Prospective New Clients: We are still taking clients for the 2022 tax season, though your tax return will be placed on extension. Please contact Jovanna at jovanna@luminarytaxadvisors.com or 352-787-9451, and she’ll be able to get the process started for you. We will ask you to get all of your tax documents to us as quickly as possible so we can determine if you need to make a payment with your extension.

To prepare extension, you’ll be asked to pay a fee of $300 — our minimum fee for a tax return — that will be applied to your final invoice when we complete your tax return over the summer.

A Word About Extensions: The word “extension” tends to get a bad rap for no reason. An extension for your tax return is perfectly fine and normal — millions of Americans go on extension every year, and there’s nothing wrong about it. No, the IRS doesn’t put your return under more scrutiny when you file for an extension, and no, you aren’t going to get audited just because you went on extension. An extension gives you an additional 6 months to file your tax return. The one thing an extension DOESN’T do, though, is give you extra time to pay your taxes. We still need to do the best we can to calculate your tax liability as of April 18. Any amount that remains due after that will be subject to IRS penalties of 0.5% of the total tax due per month plus standard IRS interest which currently sits at 7% and is variable. So long as we get you to a point where all of your taxes are paid by April 18, when we actually end up filing the tax return is of less consequence. That’s why it’s important to get all of your tax documents to us right away so we can at least take a high level look at your tax situation to see if you’re going to owe money or get a refund.
